SMES- Sodium Methyl Ester Sulfonate
SMES produced in Malaysia and distributed in latin America by Alcance Industries. It is a surfactant of renewable origin that is manufactured from distilled and hydrogenated fractions of Methyl Ester from palm oil. It doesn't only have a renewable origin but it is totally biodegradable which makes it eco-friendly. It is a direct substitute of the Sulphonic Acid known as LABSA, which is a petrochemical derivative that has fossil origins making it not renewable. SMES is commonly formulated in Southeast Asia, Japan, China, India, Europe, and the USA, as a compliment in the formulation of liquid and powder detergents because it is a renewable product and it has a magnificent performance as an active detergent surfactant. It is used by the most famous detergent and home care products manufacturers in the world such as Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Colgate, Johnson &Johnson, Henkel, etc.
